About Charlie Pearson
I’ve been a professional writer for over forty years. I’ve written books, scripts, screenplays (there’s a difference), stage shows, comedy sketches, song lyrics, advertising copy, and the occasional Christmas letter (who knew you could get paid to write somebody’s Christmas letter?!)
I began my career in corporate media, working for tech companies ranging from Apple Computer to Zenith Corporation. I segued to documentary films and television where my work has been seen on PBS, ABC, HBO, Showtime, A&E, Discovery, National Geographic, throughout Europe and in theatrical distribution. I was writer and associate producer of the Academy Award nominated short film, “Goodnight Miss Ann” (1978) and the principle author of “The Last Expedition: Stanley’s Mad Journey through the Congo” (W.W. Norton, 2005).
I have a B.A. in Political Science from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, and an M.A. in Creative Arts from San Francisco State University, where I’ve also taught script writing. I live in Marin County, California and Barra de Navidad, Jalisco, Mexico.
